Director of Wellness (IDD/MI Focus)
Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and clinically strong Director of Wellness to lead care delivery for a community serving individuals with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and Mental Health (MI) needs. This role is responsible for overseeing resident health services, ensuring person-centered care, and supporting a team dedicated to enhancing the independence, dignity, and overall well-being of each resident.
This leader will play a critical role in creating a structured yet supportive environment that balances clinical excellence with behavioral health awareness, empowering residents to thrive physically, emotionally, and socially.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and supervise nursing and direct care staff, ensuring high-quality, trauma-informed care for residents with IDD/MI needs
- Oversee and ensure compliance with individualized service plans, adapting care approaches to meet behavioral, cognitive, and medical needs
- Support assessments, admissions, and transitions, ensuring residents are appropriately placed and set up for success
- Coordinate care with physicians, behavioral health providers, and interdisciplinary teams to promote continuity of care
- Monitor and manage medication administration, including behavioral health medications, ensuring accuracy and safety
- Provide coaching and guidance to staff on behavioral support strategies, de-escalation techniques, and person-centered care practices
- Maintain compliance with state regulations, incident reporting, and healthcare standards
- Ensure a safe, structured environment that promotes resident independence, dignity, and emotional well-being
- Act as a key leader in the community, stepping in to oversee operations in the absence of the IDD Administrator

Ideal Background
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Required - RN optional
- Experience supporting individuals with IDD, mental health conditions, or behavioral health needs
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop care teams
- Comfortable navigating both medical and behavioral care plans
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build trust with residents, families, and care teams
