HR Specialist (Benefits & Compliance)
Are you passionate about ensuring employees have the best experience while also staying on top of compliance and regulations? We’re looking for a detail-oriented HR Specialist to support our team in handling everything from benefits administration to compliance and employee engagement. In this key role, you’ll play a critical part in maintaining seamless HR operations, ensuring compliance with all levels of employment laws, and providing support to our dedicated workforce.

What You’ll Do:

Stay Informed & Compliant: Keep up-to-date with local, state, and federal employment laws, ensuring the organization remains compliant.

Payroll & Benefits Administration: Handle payroll data entry, analysis, and reporting, while investigating and resolving discrepancies. You’ll also serve as a benefits coordinator for retirees and manage employee benefits billing.

Workplace Safety & Risk Management: Partner with the Risk Management team to report workplace incidents accurately and promptly.

Employee Engagement: Help organize and execute employee engagement events that boost morale and create a positive workplace culture.

Surveys & Legal Requests: Conduct internal and external surveys, respond to sunshine law requests, and compile necessary data.

Offboarding Support: Manage the offboarding process, including final pay, exit meetings, and system deactivation.

HR Compliance: Ensure alignment with HR compliance initiatives to keep policies up-to-date and legally sound.

Provide Guidance: Offer support on personnel policies and benefits, helping employees, managers, union reps, and applicants understand processes and procedures.

Affordable Care Act Reporting: Coordinate timely ACA reporting to ensure compliance.

Special Projects: Take on special HR projects and assignments directly from the HR Director, contributing to the team’s strategic goals.

Stay Current: Attend relevant training, conferences, and professional development opportunities to continue growing in your career.
What We’re Looking For:

Education: Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field. Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Experience: At least two years of HR experience. Experience in the public sector or government is a plus!

Attention to Detail: Your sharp eye for detail ensures everything runs smoothly and complies with regulations.

Communication & Organization: Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain policies clearly and manage multiple tasks.

Tech-Savvy: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other HRIS systems.

Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical skills to troubleshoot issues efficiently and effectively.
