Job DescriptionSales Engineer
Salary: $100k - $135k + bonus
Type: Permanent PositionSales Engineer
The Sales Engineer is responsible for managing all sales efforts to meet or exceed company forecasts and goals. Beyond traditional sales activities, this role also includes coordination between customers and key internal departments such as Engineering, Operations, Quality, Inside Sales, and Accounting. The Sales Engineer must maintain strong situational awareness—including knowledge of customers, competitors, pricing, and active programs—to preserve existing business and efficiently pursue new opportunities.
This individual is also responsible for reviewing terms and conditions for both new and existing business, ensuring compliance with flow-down requirements from defense customers and the U.S. Government, and communicating any exceptions appropriately.
Key Responsibilities
New Business Development

Serve as the primary point of contact for new business inquiries

Collaborate with the Business Unit Manager, VP of Sales, and Engineering Team on bid/no-bid decisions

Lead proposal preparation and cost estimation efforts

Finalize and submit proposals; manage post-submission communication and follow-up

Track opportunity status and measure win/loss rates
Proposal and Contract Management

Review terms and conditions at the bid stage for compliance

Support the Business Unit Manager and VP of Sales in contract negotiations

Lead negotiations when assigned

Post-award: Communicate finalized terms and conditions to all relevant departments
Program Management

Serve as Program Manager for new business until transition to a Project Engineer or Business Unit Manager

Maintain involvement throughout the program lifecycle and provide updates to the customer as needed
Customer Service

Support and guide the Customer Service team; act as the escalation point

Train new Customer Service Representatives on contract review and terms and conditions

Prepare quotations for legacy products as required
Customer Engagement and Travel

Visit current and prospective customers to strengthen relationships and secure new business

Expected travel is 30–50%, primarily within North America, with some international travel (Central/South America and Europe)

Collaborate with Outside Sales Representatives to enhance market insights and overseas opportunities
Sales Planning and Data Analysis

Prepare an annual forecast for both OEM and Aftermarket business; update quarterly

Analyze forecast vs. actual sales data; conduct variance and profitability analysis

Develop and implement mitigation plans when necessary
Other Duties

Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President of Sales and Marketing
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
-
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business preferred
-
Minimum of 2 years of experience in technical OEM sales, with exposure to engineering, procurement, or contract administration

Aviation or aerospace industry experience preferred
Knowledge:

Strong understanding of aerospace environments, company products, and interdepartmental functions

Technical knowledge to engage with customer engineering teams
Skills:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong organizational and leadership abilities

Customer-focused with an understanding of internal collaboration

Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
Pay Details: $110,000.00 to $135,000.00 per year
