Position OverviewThe Lee Group is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician to support food safety and quality initiatives within a production environment. This role is responsible for ensuring that raw materials and finished products meet customer specifications, company standards, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.Key Responsibilities
- Support QA and Operations teams throughout the full production process
- Collaborate with Production to identify, prevent, and resolve quality issues on the floor
- Conduct pre-operational and operational inspections in accordance with GMP standards
- Perform monitoring and verification activities aligned with HACCP plans (including metal detector checks)
- Complete routine quality checks such as:
- Label and lot code verification
- Net weight checks
- Organoleptic (sensory) evaluations
- Verify equipment calibration (scales, thermometers) and document daily temperature readings
- Ensure compliance with specifications for incoming materials and finished products
- Execute hold and release procedures for nonconforming products
- Perform corrective actions related to food safety, sanitation, and quality deviations
- Conduct environmental swabbing, ATP testing, and allergen testing
- Assist with nutritional label reviews to ensure FDA compliance
- Stop production when quality standards are not met and escalate issues appropriately
- Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment
- Follow and enforce all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety protocols
Additional Duties
- Perform SSOP inspections and internal audits (GMP, HACCP, Food Defense, Glass & Brittle Plastics)
- Conduct microbiological testing activities, including swab processing
- Audit production lines to ensure adherence to quality standards
- Verify proper labeling and packaging of finished goods
QualificationsEducation:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate degree or relevant experience (1+ year) preferred
Experience & Skills:
- 1+ year of leadership or QA-related experience preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across all levels of the organization
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 5–20 lbs occasionally
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, and climb stairs for extended periods
- Willingness to work overtime as needed
