Summary
As a Registered Nurse (RN) for our substance abuse/mental health treatment facility, you will play a crucial role in assisting individuals on their journey to recovery from substance abuse. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing nursing care, medication management, and support to individuals undergoing substance abuse treatment.
Schedule Availability
- Full Time: Sunday, Monday, & Tuesday, 7PM-7AM
Responsibilities
- Administer nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Conduct health assessments and monitor the physical and mental well-being of clients.
- Administer medications and monitor their effectiveness.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Educate clients on health promotion, disease prevention, and treatment options.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.
- Provide support and guidance to clients throughout the recovery process.
Competencies
- Expertly monitor and treat severe withdrawal symptoms (alcohol, opioids, etc.).
- Accurately track and respond to patient vital signs and physical status changes.
- Safely administer detox medications, including MAT (e.g., buprenorphine, naltrexone).
- Know the signs of overdose and be ready to perform life-saving interventions (like giving naloxone).
- De-escalate and manage agitated or confused patients safely.
- Provide non-judgmental, compassionate care to build patient trust.
- Assess for co-occurring mental health issues (anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation).
- Teach patients about addiction, medications, and recovery resources.
- Collaborate effectively with counselors, doctors, and support staff.
- Maintain clear, precise, and timely medical records.
Qualifications
- Valid RN license to practice in state of New Jersey.
- Previous experience in a substance abuse treatment facility is preferred.
- Knowledge of addiction medicine and treatment protocols.
- Strong clinical and assessment skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
