Director of Shelter & Community Outreach | Healthcare Outreach | Community Partnerships | Business Development

United Staffing Solutions is seeking an experienced Director of Shelter & Community Outreach for a well-established nonprofit healthcare organization serving vulnerable communities throughout New York City. This is a direct hire/permanent position beginning ASAP.

This leadership opportunity is ideal for someone with experience in healthcare outreach, community outreach, business development, partnership development, community relations, account management, nonprofit leadership, or program management who thrives on building relationships, expanding community partnerships, and increasing patient engagement and utilization of healthcare services.

Location: Long Island City, Queens

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM (Some evening and occasional weekend community events required)

Salary: $100,000 annually plus comprehensive benefits and company vehicle provided

Responsibilities for the Director of Shelter & Community Outreach:

  • Marketing and promoting healthcare services throughout homeless family shelters, domestic violence safe houses, public housing communities, and the Long Island City community.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with Shelter Directors, Directors of Social Services, Case Managers, community organizations, and other key stakeholders.
  • Increasing shelter patient utilization of medical, dental, behavioral health, podiatry, and optometry services through strategic outreach and community engagement efforts.
  • Representing the organization at community meetings, health fairs, workshops, presentations, and outreach events.
  • Developing and maintaining partnerships and linkage agreements with shelters, nonprofit organizations, and community agencies.
  • Identifying opportunities to expand outreach initiatives, strengthen community partnerships, and increase awareness of available healthcare services.
  • Serving as a visible ambassador for the organization throughout New York City communities.
  • Supervising, mentoring, and supporting an outreach team while driving departmental goals and performance.
  • Coordinating and participating in weekday, evening, and occasional weekend outreach activities and community events.
  • Conducting tours of healthcare facilities and educating community partners about available services.
  • Preparing reports, analyzing outreach data, and identifying trends to improve program effectiveness and patient engagement.
  • Collaborating with internal healthcare teams to improve patient access, service coordination, and community impact.
  • Assisting patients and community members during visits as needed.
  • Ensuring safe and efficient transportation coordination for patients accessing healthcare services.

Qualifications for the Director of Shelter & Community Outreach:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Communications, Marketing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in healthcare outreach, community outreach, nonprofit outreach, business development, partnership development, public health, program management, or community engagement.
  • Prior sales, business development, account management, or relationship management experience required.
  • Strong relationship-building, networking, negotiation, public speaking, and presentation skills.
  • Experience marketing services and building partnerships with community organizations and external stakeholders.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, EHR systems, and healthcare reporting tools.
  • Valid New York State driver’s license required.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Experience working with Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), homeless services, public health, behavioral health, or nonprofit healthcare organizations is highly preferred.
