Experience: Minimum 5 years’ experience estimating decorative metals.
Responsibilities:
- Work with clients and estimating assistants to vet new bid opportunities for scope applicable for Hanset to bid. In addition to bid load, it is not uncommon for this role to vet 5-10 new opportunities per day.
- Work with client(s) to understand scope of work requested for inclusion. Thoroughly vet design documents for appliable scope, including corresponding with customer to get it homed in.
- As required, work with client’s pre-construction personnel to develop budgets and feasibility studies
- Work with internal team (Pres, PM, Foreman, Craftsmen) to develop fabrication and install time assumptions
- Develop material take offs. Coordinate with vendors to obtain material budgets
- Follow-up with customers on previously quoted jobs
- Proactively identify, communicate and include VE opportunities on proposals.
- For projects landed, thoroughly vet contract paperwork to ensure alignment with proposal. Negotiation of contract terms with customer to ensure alignment. Contract reviews are performed as a team with Estimator, PM, Pres and Accounting.
- For landed projects, coordinate thorough handoff with PM (and Draftswoman, Foreman, Layout Engineer, as required)
- Develop change order proposals at the direction / request of PM’s
- Juggle multiple bid opportunities at one time. Given the scope and scale of our projects, it is not unheard of for an estimator to bid 30 jobs in a week.
- Estimators one of the Company’s primary interfaces with the client. Jobs need to perform well financially, and our customers need to be happy. Sales in perpetuity is the goal.
- Problem solve and communicate with customers! Foresight will mitigate problems and save Hanset and our customer money in the long run.

Hours: Office hours are 7:00 am – 3:30 pm Monday – Friday. This is a salaried position; all hours necessary to perform the job according to expectations are required.
