Mid Michigan Leadership Academy is currently hiring an English Language Learner Paraprofessional.
Mid-Michigan Leadership Academy (MMLA), chartered by CMU and managed by CS Partners, is a K-8 Title I public school academy serving a dynamic and diverse student body in Lansing, Michigan. MMLA’s goal is to provide an environment where all students can achieve success to reach their fullest potential. MMLA affords families in the greater Lansing area a tuition-free alternative education option to their local district.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Assist ELL students in understanding and completing classroom assignments and activities.

Reinforce language development and academic vocabulary through small group or one-on-one instruction.

Modify and scaffold classroom materials as directed by the teacher or ELL specialist.

Help students practice listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English.

Work under the guidance of the ELL specialist to implement language development strategies and interventions

Communicate regularly with classroom teachers, ELL specialists, and interventionists regarding student progress and needs.

Observe and document student behavior, participation, and language use.

Build positive relationships with ELL students to support engagement, build confidence, and encourage student independence.

Help create an inclusive, culturally responsive environment where students feel safe and respected.

Uphold and enforce the Academy’s policies and procedures related to student safety, conduct, and security.

Provide supervision at extracurricular events and programs as assigned.

Actively engage in professional development and workshops appropriate to responsibilities.

Support campus operations by completing additional duties and responsibilities as requested by school administrators or office staff.

Maintain confidentiality when dealing with students, families, staff, and community members.

Perform moderate to extensive physical activity including frequent standing or walking.
OTHER DUTIES

Demonstrate initiative and independence while remaining receptive to feedback and direction from administrators.

Maintain composure in high-stress situations and effectively implements approved de-escalation and behavior management strategies.

Build and maintain positive, respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, support staff, and community partners.

Serve as a role model for all students and within the school community.

Maintain regular and punctual attendance to ensure consistent support for students, staff, and school operations.

Maintain a professional appearance; demonstrate effective and timely communication; and maintain accurate, organized, and confidential records

Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:

High School Diploma/GED required
-
Previous experience with school age students, preferred
