Job Description

Job Title: Medical Assistant III

Location: Palm Desert, CA

Pay Rate: $19 – $20.25 per hour

Duration: 6 Months


Job Summary

The Medical Assistant III provides advanced front and back office clinical support for multispecialty examinations. Working with limited supervision, this role supports patient intake, diagnostic testing, EHR documentation, and assists providers during examinations while ensuring high standards of quality, accuracy, and customer service.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare examinees for provider exams, including medical history documentation and vital signs
  • Assist providers during examinations, including chaperone duties
  • Perform diagnostic procedures such as venipuncture, immunizations, EKGs, spirometry, and vision/hearing screenings
  • Administer medications as ordered and verified by providers
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens
  • Enter, retrieve, and maintain accurate records in EHR and case management systems
  • Perform front office duties including scheduling, phone support, and patient check-in/check-out
  • Conduct equipment calibration, inspections, and inventory activities
  • Maintain clinic cleanliness and ensure equipment readiness
  • Identify and escalate abnormal findings or documentation discrepancies
  • Support safety, compliance, and audit activities
  • Travel up to 5% for training/support; mobile roles may require up to 70% travel
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Associate degree in Medical Assisting or equivalent training preferred
  • Medical Assistant Certification/Registration required
  • 3–5 years of Medical Assistant experience
  • BLS certification required
  • Experience with EHR/EMR systems and medical data entry
  • Strong clinical, communication, multitasking, and customer service skills
  • Experience in Occupational Medicine or Primary Care preferred
  • Ability to pass background checks and obtain required government clearances
  • Valid driver’s license preferred (required for mobile roles)
