Job DescriptionOur client, located in Brooklyn, NY, is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist for a temp-to-hire opportunity. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has strong analytical skills, and can manage payroll for diverse employee groups with accuracy and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process payroll for assigned employee groups (weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly cycles as needed)
  • Manage payroll for high-volume populations (up to ~1,000 employees depending on cycle)
  • Utilize payroll/timekeeping systems such as Paylocity and UKG/Kronos
  • Maintain Excel tracking sheets for hires, terminations, salary changes, and budget reporting
  • Review timecards (submitted via HR or departmental partners), ensure accuracy, and prepare payroll batches for transmission

    Collaborate with HR and department managers to resolve payroll discrepancies, employee inquiries, and onboarding/offboarding updates
  • Ensure proper calculation and processing of deductions, taxes, union rules (if applicable), and benefits-related items
  • Support audits, reporting, and reconciliation tasks as needed

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Accounting, Business, or related field required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 1-2+ years of payroll experience, ideally in a high-volume environment
  • Advanced Excel: pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas

Pay Details: $30.00 to $35.00 per hour
