Position Summary
In this role, you will empower individuals with developmental disabilities to lead fulfilling lives while maintaining their highest level of independence. You will play a key role in supporting consistent behavioral patterns and implementing effective, evidence-based behavior intervention strategies that align with Illinois Client (IDHS) requirements for Behavior Therapy (Autism Spectrum Disorder) Behavior Intervention and Treatment—Level 2 Providers.
Scope of the Position
This position requires developing, implementing, and monitoring comprehensive Behavior Support Programs (BSPs), conducting assessments, and ensuring effective training and supervision of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). You will advocate for individual rights, maintain compliance with state guidelines, and coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to provide high-quality behavioral services to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and Maintain Behavior Support Programs (BSPs): Create, implement, and update BSPs ensuring all required components:

Individual demographics, diagnoses, past treatment history, and relevant behavioral factors
-
Operational definitions of target behaviors with baseline data (graph/table)
-
Functional assessments and analysis of behavior functions
-
A-B-C model demonstration
-
Rationale for chosen behavior strategies
-
Steps for implementing behavior strategies
-
Staff training plans
-
Progress monitoring plans
-

Prepare and submit monthly behavior reports and other required documentation within designated timeframes.
-
Conduct annual assessments, including Risk Assessments and Functional Behavior Analyses, ensuring compliance with all required evaluations.

Supervise and support DSPs in implementing BSPs; provide guidance, retraining, and ongoing monitoring as needed.

Train new and existing DSPs on behavior intervention techniques and any updates to BSPs.

Lead regional Behavior Management Committee meetings and respond to crisis situations as assigned.

Advocate for the rights and independence of individuals, ensuring adherence to policies and client regulations.

Maintain accurate, thorough documentation and ensure compliance with Illinois Client requirements, including completing supervised experience verification tables (if applicable).

Maintain ongoing communication with guardians, Independent Service Coordinators (ISCs), Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professionals (QIDPs), nurses, and other supervisory staff.

Track time and service documentation for accurate billing.

Accompany individuals to medical appointments, emergency rooms, or urgent care visits as needed, serving as a liaison with healthcare providers.

Participate in intake and transition meetings, assisting with initial BSPs and facilitating smooth transitions.

Maintain certifications in First Aid, CPR, Safety Care, and other required skills within prescribed timeframes.

Complete all required employee records, training, and meetings on time.

Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates must meet either of the following pathways to qualify:
Pathway 1

Documentation showing approval by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) to take the examination for certification as a Behavior Analyst or Associate Behavior Analyst.

A sample behavior plan you designed and/or wrote, demonstrating your ability to address significant behavior problems in individuals with developmental disabilities. The plan must include:

Demographic information, diagnoses, past treatment history, and relevant factors

Target behaviors with operational definitions and baseline data (graph/table)

Functional assessment results and conclusions

A-B-C model demonstration
-
Rationale for chosen behavior strategies

Implementation steps

OR
Pathway 2
-
A certified copy of a college transcript showing a bachelor's degree in a human services field (e.g., Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Education, Special Education, Nursing, etc.).

A sample behavior plan you designed and/or wrote, meeting the criteria above.

At least 1,500 hours of documented coursework, training, and/or supervised professional experience in the application of behavior analysis or behaviorally-based therapy models, including:

Coursework related to behavior analysis
-
BCBA-approved university practicum (if applicable)

Supervised experience under a BCBA or Licensed Clinical Psychologist, documented using the Client Supervised Experience Verification Table and signed by each supervisor.

Experience must clearly demonstrate supervision in designing behavior interventions, writing behavior plans, and monitoring implementation.

Additional Requirements
-
Experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, preferably with co-occurring mental health or neurocognitive disorders.

Must provide all required documentation at time of hire or credentialing review, in compliance with Illinois Client guidelines.

Salary: $90,000 - $105,000 per year (commensurate with experience and qualifications)
