Our organization is thrilled to announce a remarkable opening for a Professor of Clinical Surgery, serving as the Division Chief for Oral Maxillofacial Surgery & Dentistry within the Department of Surgery. This pivotal role reports directly to the Chair of the Department of Surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and is accountable for the overall operations of the division. The primary focus is to manage intricate clinical services related to Oral Surgery and Dentistry, which encompasses both research and educational initiatives.

  • Collaborate with the department, UMMSOM, and Jackson Memorial Hospital to drive program expansion in a competitive landscape.

  • Enhance research and scholarly activities in Oral Surgery and Dentistry.

  • Participate in leadership committees within the Department of Surgery.

  • Manage the division's finances, including budgeting and resource allocation, to ensure sustainability that aligns with the mission.

  • Establish clear and transparent standards for high performance in clinical activities, research, education, and service.

  • Provide clinical support for new faculty through peer mentoring from experienced physicians.

  • Lead the planning and execution of faculty recruitment, including the Selection Committee process, in accordance with departmental protocols to meet UHealth’s standards.

  • Conduct annual performance reviews for faculty members, documenting past achievements and future objectives.

  • Support the professional development of individual faculty members.

  • Oversee the division’s involvement in Department of Surgery educational programs, including GME student initiatives.

  • Manage the accredited fellowship training program within the division.

  • Enhance educational offerings and serve as a mentor and instructor for medical students, residents, and fellows.

  • Recruit faculty for the division and share responsibility with administrative leaders for hiring additional professional and support staff.

Academic Career Achievement

  • Exceptional academic credentials and expertise in one or more subspecialty areas, eligible for appointment as associate professor or professor of surgery.

Board Certification and Licensure

  • Candidates must hold Board Certification and be licensed or eligible for medical licensure in Florida.
