BekaertDeslee is the world’s leading specialist in the development and manufacturing of mattress textiles, mattress covers and on trend sleep solutions with U.S. operations in Winston-Salem, NC. BekaertDeslee develops stylish and smart mattress fabrics that will inspire, comfort and protect you during the night.
The Textile Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all mattress fabric produced meets company and industry quality standards. This includes examining fabric for visual and structural defects, verifying measurements, documenting inspection results, and ensuring compliance with production specifications. The role supports continuous improvement by identifying recurring quality issues and working with production teams to reduce defects.
Main responsibilities and Key Result Areas of the Inspector:

Inspect fabric at various stages of production (e.g., greige, finished) for defects such as weaving flaws, discoloration, stains, misprints, or inconsistencies in texture and weight.

Use inspection machines, hand tools, and measuring instruments to assess fabric width, weight, shrinkage, stretch, and other specifications.

Mark or cut out defective sections, as required, and categorize types of flaws per company standards.

Maintain accurate inspection records, including type and frequency of defects, lot numbers, and pass/fail results.

Report quality concerns or process irregularities to supervisors and assist in root cause analysis.

Collaborate with production, finishing, and maintenance teams to help correct issues and improve fabric quality.

Ensure proper labeling and identification of inspected fabric rolls before they move to packaging or shipment.

Follow all safety and cleanliness protocols, including proper handling of textile machinery and materials.

Support audits, quality improvement initiatives, and product development trials as needed.
Educational Requirements of the Inspector:

Specific Environmental Conditions:
- The worker is subject to environmental conditions. Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
- The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
- The worker is required to function in narrow aisles or passageways.
- The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
- The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
Other requirements of the Inspector or special comments:
- 8 hour shifts
- Must be able to distinguish all colors (not color blind)
- Stand for long periods of time on concrete floors
- Use scissors, tape gun, and computer
- Subject to seasonal extreme temperatures

The plant consists of two main buildings with a preparation department for the production of weaving beams, a weave room with 40 jacquard looms, a knitting department with 45 circular knitting machines, a finishing department with 2 Tenter frames and a hot-melt machine, and other necessary equipment and a warehouse.
