Job Summary
The Line Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality food items for hotel guests, banquets, room service, and restaurant operations. This role supports the kitchen team by maintaining food quality, following recipes and safety standards, and ensuring timely service in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and plate menu items according to hotel standards and recipes.
- Set up and stock assigned cooking stations before service.
- Assist with breakfast, lunch, dinner, banquet, and room service preparation as needed.
- Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
- Monitor food quality, freshness, portion control, and presentation.
- Communicate with chefs, servers, and kitchen staff to ensure timely order preparation.
- Label, date, rotate, and store food products properly.
- Assist with inventory, prep lists, and receiving deliveries when needed.
- Report equipment issues, shortages, or safety concerns to the supervisor.
- Support banquet and catering events, including setup, cooking, and breakdown.
- Perform other kitchen duties as assigned by the Chef, Sous Chef, or Kitchen Manager.
Qualifications
- Previous cooking or kitchen experience preferred, preferably in a hotel, restaurant, or banquet setting.
- Knowledge of basic cooking techniques, knife skills, and food safety practices.
- Ability to follow recipes, prep lists, and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Food Handler’s certification preferred or required based on local regulations.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in hot, cold, and busy kitchen environments.
- Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, and repetitive hand movements.
Work Environment
This position works in a hotel kitchen and may support restaurant dining, banquets, catering, breakfast service, and room service. The role requires teamwork, professionalism, and a commitment to guest satisfaction
