Job Description
The CAD Designer / Drafter II supports engineering and project teams by developing, maintaining, and revising accurate 2D technical drawings across multiple disciplines. This role is responsible for producing detailed drawings such as process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, one-line diagrams, layouts, plans, sections, and details using standard CAD software tools. In addition to strong technical drafting skills, the role requires effective communication, collaboration, and coordination with engineers, designers, and project stakeholders to support successful project execution.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain 2D CAD drawings including process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, one-lines, general layouts, plans, sections, and details
- Produce computer-generated drawings, isometrics, schedules, and data sheets in accordance with established specifications and standards
- Review engineering designs and drawings to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with applicable drafting standards
- Prepare dimensional and non-dimensional drawings to support engineering and construction activities
- Revise drawings based on direction from engineers, designers, or project leads
- Collaborate with multi-discipline design teams and support interface coordination across engineering disciplines
- Communicate effectively with project team members to resolve drawing-related questions and issues
- Provide document control support, drawing database administration, and progress reporting
- Coordinate and communicate design changes and issues with internal and external engineering stakeholders
- Keep supervisors informed of drawing progress, deviations, and execution concerns
- Support internal engineering initiatives, standards development, and continuous improvement efforts as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
- Associate degree in Drafting, Design Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
- Previous experience in a closely related CAD design or drafting role
- Proficiency in 2D CAD software, including AutoCAD (required); experience with MicroStation and/or SmartSketch preferred
- General knowledge of engineering drawing standards and drafting best practices
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, adapt to changing priorities, and meet tight deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based, multi-discipline environment
- Fluent in English for technical and business communication
Job Details
Pay: $45/per hour
Location: Midland, TX
Schedule: Monday-Friday
