Covenant House Missouri (CHMO) welcomes youth who are runaway, trafficked, at-risk, or experiencing homelessness with unconditional love, absolute respect and a place to call home. The Manager of Clinical Services/Wellness Center is responsible for the management, direct supervision and coordination of clinical staff, including management of psychiatry and nurse schedule. This manager may also maintain a reduced caseload and provide individual therapy, group therapy, and crisis intervention. This manager is also responsible for working with the Senior Director of Programs and Services on developing our mental service offerings, and assisting with development and implementation of a program that serves survivors of human trafficking. This position is focused on achieving goals for the therapy services program in a manner that reflects the mission, philosophy and policies of Covenant House Missouri.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Manager of Clinical Services is a full-time position that reports to the Senior Director of Programs and Services. This position will develop and implement programming in alignment with the strategic direction of the clinical services, in collaboration with organizational leadership.
ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP AND PROGRAM OVERSIGHT
- Strategic Leadership: Provide leadership and input on strategic planning process of clinical services in collaboration with organizational leadership. Function as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, providing client psychosocial assessment, and short and long-term individual, group and family therapy using a variety of interviewing, counseling and assessment methods in accordance with professional standards and clinical policies and practices and in alignment with the organization's mission, vision, values, goals, and funding requirements. Ensure measurable objectives, SMART goals, and Key Performance Indicators are met. This role ensures that clinical practices align with strategic objectives, fostering a cohesive approach to client care and service delivery while supporting organizational growth and effectiveness.
- Growth Mindset: Identify new opportunities for growth, expansion, innovation, and impact based on mental health needs of the youth within the organization and Wellness Center.
- Make Critical Decisions: Make data-informed decisions that impact the direction, performance, and success of the organization and Wellness Center.
- Problem Solve: Identify and solve problems effectively, addressing challenges that hinder progress especially as it relates to the area of mental health and well being.
- Promote Healthy Organizational Culture: Model behaviors, ethics, and values in alignment with the vision, values, and mission of the organization. Provide follow-up support on treatment decisions in collaboration with members of the interdisciplinary team. Formulate and implement treatment plans through methods such as negotiating a process for achieving goals, collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team evaluating goals wile maintaining respect for client dignity and maximum client self-determination and independence. Create and maintain an environment in which the individual needs of youth are supported and addressed in a way that is comfortable, motivating, and secure for them.
- Encourage Innovation: Create a safe environment where creativity and innovation are encouraged.
- Implement Mitigation Strategies: Develop strategies to minimize risk and ensuring business continuity. Ensure services are provided in alignment with the program philosophies of Covenant House, including Housing First, Harm Reduction, Trauma Informed Care, Strengths Based Approach, and Positive Youth Development.
- Adaptability: Adjust strategies and operations in response to shifting conditions, needs, or other external factors.
- Promote Excellence: Facilitate in-house training and education. Provide reflective supervision to direct reports. Develop, coordinate and deliver in service programs, presentations and training to clients, families and staff. Assist in the orientation and training of new staff interns; provide internal, local and external training.
- Collect Data, Monitor Performance, and Report: Oversee the collection and analysis of data from the Wellness Center to assess program outcomes and impact. Maintain client records through required methods such as documenting client assessments, charting client information, preparing progress notes and reports. Prepare reports for senior leadership, the board of directors, the funders, showcasing program performance and success. Ensure data driven decision making processes are in place to continually improve services.
- Quality Assurance: Provide consistent focus on quality of services, progress toward goals, and adherence to mission and strategic plan. Oversee the timely and accurate documentation of all program activities and progress notes in the appropriate database systems.
- Financial Acumen and Oversight: Provide ongoing administrative budget analysis, monitoring, and financial forecasting, expenditure review, and accountability for Wellness Center service expenses to ensure they are executed appropriately and with in budget.
Talent Management and Development
- Hiring and Talent Development: Ensure the effective, efficient, timely on-boarding of new staff in alignment with regulatory requirements. Manage Wellness Center staff and interns providing reflective supervision, coaching, and professional development opportunities. Provide on-going supervision of therapist and ensure that treatment is clinically appropriate for clients. Ensure therapist have the necessary skills, tools, resources and support to succeed in their roles.
- Empower Teams & Effective Communication: Inspire, motivate, and empower teams by fostering collaboration, trust, and effective communication. Foster a positive, collaborative, and productive work culture within the team.
- Conflict Resolution: Address conflicts timely to maintain a productive and harmonious work environment.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to therapists ensuring staff are well versed in program philosophies, including regular training and coaching to staff to support these philosophies.
- Transparency: Keep everyone informed about organizational goals, changes, and growth opportunities.
- Succession Planning: Identify and develop internal talent.
External Leadership:
- Build, maintain, and cultivate strong relationships with mental health providers in the community in order to expend the network of mental health services for CHMO youth.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES
Clinical Therapists, Nurse (IFM), Psychiatrist (Washington University), Practicum/Intern Students, and other on-site clinical based partners.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Regular internal contact with all CHMO staff, outside contact with vendors and suppliers, and regular contact with outside agencies.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Education & Experience
- Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, Behavioral Therapy, Counseling Psychology,
Professional Counseling, Social Work, or Marriage and Family Therapy or closely related degree from a regionally accredited college or university and by an accrediting body which meets any U.S. State or jurisdiction licensing requirements for a professional mental health counselor or therapist.
- Experience in program development strongly preferred
- Experience working with adolescents or young adults strongly preferred
- Experience working with survivors of trafficking strongly preferred
- Experience supervising staff strongly preferred
- Demonstrated experience is expected
