This is a direct hire position.Job Title: Senior Inventory Planning Manager (Hybrid) - Temperature Regulated Food Products Location: Richmond, CAPay Range: 150,000-180,000 + 13% bonusEmployment Type: Full-Time/Direct HirePosition SummaryThe Inventory Planning Manager plays a critical role in developing and executing a national inventory strategy across a multi-warehouse network. Operating in a data-driven environment, this position ensures optimal product availability by aligning inventory decisions with customer demand, procurement timing, and supplier capabilities. The role requires analyzing complex datasets—including shipping activity, sales trends, and warehouse capacity—to create effective stocking strategies. Success in this position depends on strong collaboration skills, the ability to balance customer service with working capital and efficiency, and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
You will be overseeing 5 direct reports (4 Senior Buyers + 1 Procurement Manager)
Key ResponsibilitiesInventory & Data Analysis- Analyze inventory, sales, and supply chain data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
- Develop replenishment strategies using Excel, Power BI, ERP, and other business intelligence tools.
- Create stocking strategies that reduce stockouts, minimize excess inventory, and enhance lead times and fill rates.
Cross-functional Collaboration & Customer Alignment- Partner with Account Management, Sales Operations, and Supply Chain teams to align strategies with customer needs.
- Lead solutions for urgent inventory challenges, including reservations, repackaging, and warehouse transfers.
Inventory Management & Optimization- Ensure strategies meet inventory value and DSI/DIOH targets defined by leadership.
- Collaborate with Warehouse Managers to optimize space usage and transfer processes.
- Track and manage inventory levels, turnover rates, and stocking efficiency using KPIs and dashboards.
Reporting & Process Improvement- Deliver regular reporting and variance analysis to the Supply Chain Director with actionable recommendations.
- Monitor aged, excess, and obsolete inventory and resolve shortages by addressing problem items.
- Lead initiatives to refine stocking practices, reduce carrying costs, and boost supply chain efficiency.
Industry Best Practices & Strategic Leadership- Stay current on industry trends and incorporate best practices into stocking strategies.
- Recommend strategic opportunities to improve customer satisfaction and supply chain performance.
Operational Efficiency & Communication- Maintain timely communication and follow-up to achieve a 100% fill rate on customer orders.
- Collaborate across departments to foster a productive and positive workplace.
- Comply with Richmond Wholesale policies and regulations while upholding operational excellence.
Minimum Qualifications• Education: Associate or Bachelor’s Degree
• Experience: 4+ years in food inventory management, supply chain analytics, or a related field (food distribution preferred)
• Skills:
- Advanced Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data modeling)
- 2+ years with ERP systems and advanced visualization tools (e.g., Power BI)
- 2+ years of complex data analysis
