About the Role

The Product Design & Development Engineer supports the design, development, and continuous improvement of structural ceiling products. This role is responsible for both enhancing existing products and driving new product development through engineering design, prototyping, testing, and validation.

What You’ll Do

Product Design & Development

  • Design and develop products using materials such as extruded aluminum, steel, and polycarbonate
  • Create 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and perform design analysis (including FEA and traditional methods)
  • Conduct tolerance stack-ups and assembly analyses
  • Lead and support iterative prototyping, testing, and product qualification activities
  • Improve existing products for performance, manufacturability, and quality

Product Management & Support

  • Develop and maintain engineering drawings, bills of materials, and labor routings
  • Write and evaluate product specifications
  • Support test plan development, execution, and data analysis
  • Troubleshoot product issues and propose effective engineering solutions
  • Assist in maintaining product documentation, including installation materials and quality procedures

Compliance & Testing

  • Support regulatory and compliance efforts for product development
  • Participating in laboratory testing and validation activities
  • Ensure adherence to quality, safety, and environmental standards

Additional Expectations

  • Follow company policies including compliance, safety, and IMS standards
  • Participate in training, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, sales, and quality teams
  • Maintain strong awareness of safety practices and report issues promptly
  • Occasionally travel as required
  • Comply with all company policies, including the Code of Conduct and Kingspan Group Compliance Policy.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and internal product compliance requirements.
  • Support all activities required to meet Compliance Management System goals.
  • Raise any compliance-related concerns to a supervisor, manager, Leadership Team member, or through the confidential whistleblower service.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Structural Engineering, or related field
  • 3–5 years of experience in 3D CAD design
  • Experience in product design and development (building products preferred)
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, and tolerancing practices
  • Hands-on problem-solving skills with prototyping and testing
  • Strong communication and project management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborative mindset with cross-functional team experience
