Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

An opportunity is available for a Teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, serving grades K-12 in a full school year contract position located in Newport, KY.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting curriculum to meet individual needs
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
  • Utilize assistive technologies and communication methods appropriate for students with hearing impairments
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular updates to families and educational staff
  • Foster an inclusive classroom environment that supports social and academic growth
  • Collaborate with parents, speech therapists, audiologists, and other professionals to support student development

Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure as a Teacher for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
  • Experience working with K-12 students within a special education setting preferred
  • Strong knowledge of communication methods such as American Sign Language and assistive listening devices
  • Ability to create and implement individualized learning plans
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Fresh J.O. passed from Sophia

Location: Newport, KY
Duration: Contract spanning the full school year (CSY)
