Position Summary
The Cardiac Sonography Clinical Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring students receive high-quality, hands-on clinical education within the Cardiac Sonography (CS) and Cardiovascular Technology (CVT) programs. Reporting to the Program Director, this position is responsible for overseeing clinical placements, monitoring student progress, and maintaining strong partnerships with clinical affiliates. This role combines coordination, instruction, and evaluation to ensure students are prepared to excel in their future careers as cardiac sonographers.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Placement Coordination Assign and manage student placements at designated CS and CVT clinical affiliates.
- Student Progress Oversight Track and evaluate student performance, attendance, competencies, and clinical skill development.
- Advising & Support Provide guidance, mentorship, and academic support to students throughout their clinical rotations.
- Record Management Maintain accurate student records including grades, attendance, and competency checklists.
- Documentation & Compliance Collect and process agency-specific documentation required for student onboarding at clinical sites.
- Professional Engagement Participate in program, department, school, and college-wide committees as needed.
- Continued Learning Maintain up-to-date knowledge of cardiac sonography and related diagnostic techniques through ongoing professional development.
- Regulatory Adherence Ensure compliance with all annual in-service and institutional requirements.
Qualifications
- Associate degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
- Current ARDMS credential in Adult Echocardiography (RDCS-AE).
- Minimum of 5 years experience working as a cardiac sonographer.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficient in verbal and written communication, active listening, and interpersonal engagement.
- Competent with computer-based systems for tracking, reporting, and communication.
