Equipment Transport Specialist

Job Description

The Equipment Transport Specialist is responsible for managing end-to-end transportation logistics for customer equipment, including pick-up, delivery, and coordination with calibration labs. This customer-facing role combines safe, efficient driving with high-quality service, route optimization, and strong communication to ensure seamless experience for clients and internal teams. The position serves as the face of the organization during field interactions and requires attention to detail, physical capability, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Collect and deliver customer and company-owned equipment on a scheduled basis.
• Ensure all equipment is securely loaded and transported safely.
• Obtain customer signatures and delivery confirmation upon drop-off.
• Transport equipment to and from calibration laboratories and customer locations safely and efficiently.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and road-ready transport vehicle.
• Optimize routes for efficiency and timeliness using navigation tools and guidance from coordinators.
• Deliver all required documentation, including purchase orders and customer-specific requirements.
• Collaborate with a calibration lab representative to support local Delivery and pickup commitments
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers, lab staff, and customer representatives to resolve issues and provide status updates.
• Maintain accurate records of all pick-up and delivery transactions.
• Report equipment discrepancies, damage, or delays immediately to the appropriate personnel.
• Submit logs, manifests, and inspection forms as required.
• Follow all company and regulatory safety protocols related to equipment handling and transport.
• Ensure the security of equipment and sensitive materials during transit.
• Participate in routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Familiarity with equipment handling and safe transport practices.
• Strong time management, organization, and route planning skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Proficient with basic scheduling and navigation tools.

Working Conditions:

• Regular local travel required, including visits to customer sites and calibration labs. 100-mile radius from our Harahan, LA office.
• Vehicle and fuel card will be provided.
• Frequent physical activity: lifting, loading/unloading (weight limit guidance can be added).
• Exposure to varied environments: office, vehicle, lab, and customer facilities.
• May require working in varying weather conditions.
