An experienced registered nurse is sought for a hospital-wide float role in Coeur dAlene, ID. This position offers the opportunity to work across multiple high-acuity areas including Emergency Room (ER), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Medical-Surgical (Med Surg), and Behavioral Health (adult acute, youth acute, addiction recovery). The role requires a high degree of adaptability, clinical expertise, and strong time management skills to support various patient populations and care teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care utilizing the nursing process across diverse units.
  • Collaborate with physicians during examinations and procedures.
  • Administer medications and perform patient tests within RN scope of practice.
  • Promote patient independence through education about conditions, medications, and self-care.
  • Maintain adherence to hospital standards and Idaho Nurse Practice Act.
  • Participate in floating assignments across designated units with scheduled advance notifications.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, including department-specific onboarding and certifications.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Graduate of a nationally accredited nursing program (BSN preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years of recent experience across ER, ICU, PCU, Med Surg, and Behavioral Health/Psych settings.
  • Proficiency with cardiac drips and non-invasive ventilation.
  • Current state RN license (Idaho or compact).
  • Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and completion of Restraint C and MOAB training during orientation.
  • Ability to float seamlessly across specialized units and maintain effective communication with interdisciplinary teams.

Schedule:

  • 12-hour shifts (0700-1930 or 1900-0730).
  • Schedule based on unit needs, including every other weekend coverage.
  • Predictable scheduling communication prior to shifts.
