Job Description\n
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position with day shifts and floating requirements.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
- Work in a hospital Med/Surg Telemetry unit
- Care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients with general med/surg, oncology, orthopedic, and non-titrating cardiac drip cases
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5
- Day shifts are 12 hours from 7:00 to 19:30, with every other weekend required
- Floating may be required within the specialty and to lower acuity units as needed
- No on-call requirements
- Holiday coverage is required as scheduled
- Responsibilities include managing telemetry, caring for oncology and orthopedic patients, and administering non-titrating cardiac drips
- Travelers are first to float within the hospital and must be comfortable floating within their scope of practice
- Holiday coverage is required as assigned
- Block scheduling or set schedule restrictions cannot be requested
- Return travelers must have a 6-month break from the system before returning, and former staff must be gone for 12 months before being eligible as a traveler
- First-time travelers will be considered for this contract
\n \n Requirements\n
- Active MD or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
- At least 2 years of recent Med/Surg Tele RN experience required
- Current certifications in BLS, ACLS (AHA only), CPI, and NIHSS required
- First-time travelers are accepted, but experience in more than one healthcare facility is preferred
- Must provide two satisfactory professional references: one from a supervisor or manager and one from a charge RN
- Permanent residence must be at least 50 miles from the facility
