Job DescriptionWe are looking for an experienced Controller to lead the accounting operations of our organization in Amherst, New York. This role will oversee financial processes, manage teams within the accounting department, and ensure compliance with established policies. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a commitment to maintaining high standards of financial management.

Responsibilities:
• Provide direct leadership and oversight to the accounting department, including Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable clerks, staff accountants, and accounting managers.
• Manage and review accounting functions such as general ledger postings, account reconciliations, and preparation of internal financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with audit requirements and financial reporting standards.
• Develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards to optimize the organization’s financial management.
• Oversee administrative and risk management operations, ensuring the organization adheres to legal and financial regulations.
• Direct and improve month-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to establish budget processes and support strategic financial planning.
• Identify opportunities for operational improvements and lead initiatives to enhance efficiency.
• Facilitate internal audits and address findings to ensure continued compliance.
• Guide and mentor accounting staff, fostering development and growth.• Extensive experience in accounting operations, including general ledger management and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in accounting software systems and tools.
• Strong knowledge of audit processes and compliance standards.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams effectively.
• Expertise in budget development and financial planning.
• Proven track record of handling month-end close processes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to operate independently and implement organizational changes as needed.
