PURPOSE:
Seeking a dependable Lumber Laborer to support production and yard operations. This
role involves handling, assembling, staging, and transporting lumber and construction materials used in
residential framing. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and capable of performing
physically demanding work in a team-oriented environment.
- Operate a forklift and be certified to do so
- Count materials with a high level of detail to ensure accuracy
- Load trucks, understanding heights and weights to ensure safe transport
- Unload rail cars safely and efficiently
- Rotate stock materials, keeping the lumberyard clean and orderly
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and materials are properly stored
- Involves the manual handling and assembling materials, hardware and components
- Complete various jobs including materials staging, layout and clean up
- May require assisting with packaging of completed component for shipping or storage
- Adhere to and follow all applicable OSHA and Erickson Companies safety standards and requirements
- Assisting in identifying and correcting hazardous situations and acts by fellow employees and
notifying supervisory personnel
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience in a lumberyard or similar setting
- Forklift certification and ability to operate a forklift safely
- Involves a combination of formal training, on-the-job learning and practical skills.
- Understanding and use of various hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of wood and construction materials
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Lifting up to 100 lbs
- High degree of physical exertion required.
- Must be alert to surroundings and requires high degree of situation awareness.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
