Travel Pay Rate: (above 50 miles)
- Hourly:$50/hr W2 + $1,770/week (non - taxable stipend)
- Gross:$3,645/weekly
Local Pay rate: (within 50 miles)
Hourly: $85 - $87/hr

Job Summary:
The Pathology Assistant supports pathologists in the examination, preparation, and processing of surgical specimens and autopsy materials. This role is responsible for gross examination and dissection of tissues, ensuring accurate specimen documentation, and maintaining laboratory quality and safety standards. The Pathology Assistant plays a critical role in diagnostic processes by ensuring specimens are handled efficiently and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Perform gross examination and dissection of surgical specimens under the supervision of a pathologist.
- Accurately describe and document specimen findings for pathology reports.
- Prepare and submit tissue samples for histologic processing.
- Assist in autopsies, including organ dissection and specimen collection (if applicable).
- Ensure proper specimen identification, labeling, and chain of custody.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with safety and infection control standards.
- Collaborate with pathologists, histotechnologists, and laboratory staff to support timely diagnosis.
- Follow CAP, CLIA, OSHA, and other regulatory guidelines.
- Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- New York State license required.
- B.S. Degree in Biology or related science with certification of Pathologists’ Assistant Program or equivalent
- minimum 2 years experience preferred.
- ASCP certification preferred.
