The position is responsible for procuring goods at a competitive market level that meets the defined specifications and maintain manufacturing schedules. Position is responsible for processing purchase order requisitions, purchase order generation, supplier relations, and participating in bid requests. The Senior Buyer will support all aspects of procurement with a professional and ethical manner with due regards to cost, delivery, quality, and continuous improvement. The Senior Buyer must develop and maintain strong vendor relationships to improve negotiating power. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned by supervisor or management. ? Purchasing food component to support demand at multiple DCs for both shelf stable and temperature controlled product ? Develop and maintain excellent working supplier relations ? Manage demand supply planning by sku against sales forecasts and actuals ? Coordinate and communicate with suppliers to ensure that capacities and capabilities meet customer demands and company stocking levels. ? Assist in solving purchasing and/or shipping discrepancies; working with A/P, suppliers, receiving and compliance, and other internal departments as it relates to the purchasing function. ? Assist with inventory control in Physical Inventory initiative to reduce and eliminate any obsolete materials. ? Maintain and analyze data to optimize inventory turns while retaining sufficient inventory to meet customer demands ? Arrange transportation requests of purchased products. ? Set-up and maintain new items ? Provide forecasts and other management reports as needed or required ? Reduce costs and lead times, minimize inventory and lead times, identify and act on slow moving and obsolete inventory ? Participate in internal continuous improvement, Lean and profit improvements and communicate and monitor continuous improvement initiatives ? Analyze and maintain minimum inventory levels and identify and act on slow moving and obsolete inventory ? Some travel is required ? Responsible for communicating product catalogues to ATG (pub, unpub, disco of SKU) Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience ? Bachelor Degree in Business, Supply Chain or related field required ? Minimum 2 years experience with food and/or related material procurement; Manufacturing, food, consumer product industries a plus. ? Minimum of 2 years purchasing experience ? Working knowledge of general accepted "best practices" pertaining to controlling & tracking physical assets. ? Excellent communication and negotiation skills ? Working knowledge of MAS500 and Manhattan a plus ? Knowledge of budget management ?
