Job Overview:
Our Compounders are responsible for setting up and performing manual operations, monitoring tanks and mixing equipment for product formulation, working with Quality Control to ensure product quality, and cleaning/sanitizing equipment used in the product formulation process."
Schedule: Tue–Sat, 12:00 PM – 8:30 PM for the first six months. Thereafter, flexible hours (5 days per week) between 6:00 AM and 9:00 PM. Sundays off.
Key Responsibilities:
● Adds chemicals, dyes, and other ingredients into the compounding kettles according to specifications and procedures listed in approved compounding mixing instructions
●Reviews the Pick List, Batch Record Audit Log, and verifies that all materials are present and weighed out accurately before starting the compounding of any batches
●Observes and compare colors and consistencies of products to instrument readings and to laboratory and standard test results
●Adjust controls to regulate temperature, pressure, feed or flow of liquids and times of prescribed reactions, according to knowledge of equipment and processes
●Perform set-up, operation, and monitoring of tanks and mixing equipment for product formulation. Including the use of valves, mixers, side sweeps, heating and cooling lines.
●Ensures that all products are batched according to the manufacturing instructions provided and that all batch paperwork is completed in an accurate and thorough manner
●Performs operations necessary to adjust pH and viscosity of product before releasing to production lines
● Assure accuracy of all documentation, to include:
o Batch Records
o Alcohol Logs
o Cleaning Logs
o Warehouse Transfer sheets
o Weighing Tickets
● Effectively interface with Quality Control and Microbiology Lab Technicians
●Cleans and sanitizes any equipment used in the product formulation process in accordance with SOP’s
● Notify Compounding Manager of any needs about the equipment and any supplies needed for the department
●Assume other duties and responsibilities, as necessary, within the compounding department in an effort to provide the required support to ensure adherence to the production schedule
Qualifications & Experience:
● Minimum of High School Diploma or GED
●3+ years of compounding experience in Personal care products or cosmetics manufacturing industry
● Experience in a non-automated work environment
● Knowledge of industrial/manufacturing homogenizers
Physical Requirements:
● Performs manual operation
●While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk and kneel
● Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively
● Ability to perform repetitive tasks and stand for extended periods
● Ability to wear required PPE
