We are seeking a strategic, data-driven, and collaborative Category Analyst to join our team and align customer and Stonewall Kitchen strategies. This role is responsible for analyzing market trends, consumer insights, and sales data to develop category strategies that optimize assortment, pricing, promotion, and placement. The ideal candidate will work cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Insights, and Finance to help fuel Stonewall Kitchen’s long-term ambitions internally and externally.
JOB SUMMARY
1. Prepare and distribute monthly/weekly sales reports including but not limited to consolidated distributor movement files, lost sales, broker sales, customer profitability, item rankers, executive summaries and channel reports. Compare and analyze variances of actual results to plans and forecasts
2. Partner with key retail accounts / sales representatives / marketing to develop and present category reviews/presentations and growth recommendations using syndicated data
3. Identify Retail Sales opportunities through syndicated and shipment data analysis, including distribution gaps, white space in market, and merchandising, to support Stonewall Kitchen sales initiatives
4. Create and maintain both general and customer specific selling stories through determining the most compelling scan and shipment data insights
5. Act as a strategic category expert internally, collaborating with Marketing, Sales and Analytic teams
Requirements:
1. BA Degree and 1-3 years of experience in Category Management within CPG working directly with Customers
2. Proficiency in syndicated data platforms (e.g., Nielsen, IRI, SPINS, Numerator)
3. Familiarity in working directly with headquarter level customers
4. Proven experience creating clear data stories in PowerPoint and/or Google Slides required
5. Proficiency with direct customer and distributor data (i.e. UNFI, KeHE, Whole Foods Market, Target, and Walmart)
6. Expert Microsoft Excel skills including lookup/reference functions, nested if-then statements, pivot tables, graphs/reporting tools, macro knowledge and SQL experience a plus.
7. Expert PowerPoint skills including graphs, eye-catching graphics, simple and clear messaging with excellent written communication skills
8. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously
9. Must be a problem solving, detailed-oriented, self-starter, with strong organizational skills and a systematic approach to daily responsibilities
10. Some travel required
11. May be required to work in excess of 40 hours per week as business needs require
