A challenging opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse with advanced step-down and cardiac care expertise in a fast-paced Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This contract role offers hands-on experience managing high-acuity patients in a specialized cardiac center of excellence located in the Aurora, CO area.

Responsibilities include delivering comprehensive nursing care on a 20-bed unit equipped with the latest technology such as telemetry, transport monitors, suction devices, feeding pumps, chest tubes, and advanced respiratory support (BiPAP, CPAP, heated high flow). Nurses will manage complex infusions including heparin, diltiazem, amiodarone, nitro, and ketamine drips, as well as monitor pacing wires and conduct 12-lead EKGs. Patient-to-nurse ratios typically maintain a 1:4 level of care in collaboration with experienced teams of RNs and Patient Care Technicians.

Qualifications:

  • Current RN license with PCU or step-down care experience
  • ACLS certification is required
  • Proficient in cardiac nursing procedures and drip management including heparin, diltiazem, amiodarone, nitro, Lasix, and ketamine
  • Ability to perform chest tube management, pacer wire removal, and advanced cardiac monitoring
  • Strong teamwork and high-energy approach preferred

This role is based in the Aurora/Englewood area, offering a supportive environment with a dedicated staff of 40 professionals. The unit operates a 5 PM to 5 AM schedule with opportunities to engage in dynamic, patient-centered cardiac care.
