Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years MS RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Deliver comprehensive nursing care as a Registered Nurse in a specialized Neuro Cardiac Unit, focusing on complex Med/Surg and Tele patients. This 13-week contract position requires strong clinical skills, critical thinking, and experience in a fast-paced, challenging environment dedicated to quality patient outcomes.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Current active compact RN license
  • AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications (attach upon application)
  • Minimum two years of solid Telemetry, Med/Surg nursing experience, including at least one travel assignment and trauma level II background
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Recent EPIC charting experience (checkoff class required)
  • Proficient in NIHSS, dysphagia screening, neuro assessments, Tele/12-lead EKG interpretation, initiating and titrating drips (e.g., insulin, cardiac, heparin), and heart catheterization recovery care
  • Familiarity with NG/PEG tubes, PIV insertion, Tikosyn administration, and chest tubes is a plus
  • Strong assessment, critical thinking, and adaptability skills essential

Location:The position is based in Evansville, Indiana, at a well-equipped teaching hospitals Neuro Cardiac Unit. You will float within two nearby campuses located 8 to 11 miles apart, with advance notice for cross-campus duties. Responsibilities:

  • Provide nursing care to complex post-cardiac cath, CVA/TIA, oncology, and post-operative patients
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
  • Maintain proper documentation and adhere to hospital policies and procedures
  • Participate in unit orientation and precepting of new hires and students as required
  • Float as needed within skillset across designated units

Schedule and Contract Details:

  • 12-hour night shifts (6:30 pm 7:00 am)
  • Guaranteed 36 hours per week; 48 hours considered upon request (overtime after 52 hours)
  • Three weekends out of every six-week schedule
  • This is a 13-week contract opportunity with bi-weekly orientation starting April 6
