Staff Accountant

Location: St. Louis, MO

Position: Part/Full Time in person

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Hourly Rate: $20 to $30, based on experience.

As Staff Accountant, you will support the operational health of Ventura National Bank & Trust by assisting with daily accounting operations and financial reporting. This position plays a key role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial data across the general ledger and other financial platforms. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and eager to grow within a dynamic, high-performing banking environment. It is anticipated that initially this position will be part-time but will transition into a full-time position for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Input and reconcile financial data within the General Ledger (GL) system.
• Support daily and monthly accounting functions such as journal entries, reconciliations, and accounts payable processing.
• Help prepare internal financial statements and management reports.
• Maintain compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements related to both bank and trust operations.
• Assist with internal and external audits and regulatory reporting.
• Participate in ad hoc financial projects and other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Finance or Accounting, or equivalent work experience in accounting (bank experience a plus).
• Good analytical skills with the ability to perform financial analysis
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with internal team and stakeholders.
• Detail-oriented with good organizational and time management skills.
• Working knowledge of accounting principles, bank accounting practices preferred.
• Comfortable and capable navigating bank technology platforms.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and familiarity with Fiserv, Call Reporter and Fedline platforms preferred.
• Strong sense of confidentiality and accountability.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
