POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs Echocardiography, Stress Echocardiography and all other Cardiopulmonary testing procedures as required.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Prepares for examinations by checking equipment, taking inventory of supplies, replenishing stock as needed, reviewing physician orders and patient schedules, readying recording equipment and inputting patient information.
• Manages patient stress by patiently explaining exam procedures, answering questions and providing ambulatory assistance.
• Positions patients, applies medical gels and electrodes, connects and adjusts equipment and verifies wave signals.
• Records examination details by printing data and graphics, producing measurements of heart wall, chamber size, and blood flow direction and velocity and comparing measurements to established norms.
• Observes all safety policies and protocols for patient protection.
• Maintains close communication with the Cardiologist.
• Possesses a thorough knowledge of anatomy and physiology in relation to diagnostic echocardiography.
• Keeps abreast of current and new procedures and equipment, updates department procedures as required to maintain a high standard of efficiency and quality.
• Creates preliminary reports on reporting system.
• Responsible for assuring the performance of preventative maintenance checks and repairs
• Consistently displays a positive attitude and a personal commitment to excellence.
• Attends all department meetings and clinic required meetings.

Required Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or GED.
• Certificate from Diagnostic Medical Sonographer School.
• Current ARDMS Certification.
• Current American Heart Association recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum one-year experience in diagnostic sonography/echocardiography.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk or hear. This position on occasion will require you to lift objects up to 40lbs. Strong verbal and written communication skills required. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, bend, balance, crouch or crawl. Ability to exercise good judgment and positively influence and lead others, including handling confrontations with poise and efficiency. Repetitive motion of upper body required for extended use of machines and computers.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00am to 5:00pm. Based on business need, the ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends as approved in advance.
Travel: This position does not require any travel.
Work Environment: This position requires regular and reliable on-site attendance.
