Current BLS certification
Two years CVCST experience required
High School diploma or equivalent required
NBSTSA required
Current State Certification required
Must have extensive knowledge, experience, proficiency and/or certifications in comprehensive, technical surgical skills that provides technical leadership in the care of the perioperative patient with a primary focus on the cardiovascular patient.
Assists the R.N. in all cases inclusive of the most complex patients with the implementation of an age appropriate plan of care through tasks delegated by the RN.
Demonstrates an expert level of technical skills in care delivery and performing tasks delegated by the RN based on patients’ condition.
Demonstrates both knowledge and technical expertise regarding sterile processing, procedures, equipment, supplies, instruments, and surgical sequence for all procedures applicable to this Tech – Open Heart Surgery/Vascular.
Demonstrates the ability to pass instruments and first scrub on all procedures applicable to ability in meeting Lead Tech competencies (see attached Lead Tech Orientation Checklist).
Demonstrates willingness to learn and then educate others on new procedures, equipment, and techniques. Is able to translate knowledge into teaching others.
Demonstrates ability to use prior knowledge in adapting to and learning new procedures.
Assists the RN and other Surgical Technologists to provide an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors and employees.
Demonstrates both knowledge and expertise for cardiovascular procedures.
Requires additional call duties.
