Licensed Practical Nurse, Primary Care

Location: Elizabeth City, NC

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30/5:00 PM (40 hours/week)

Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire

Position Overview

The Ambulatory Clinical Support team member (LPN) supports providers in a fast-paced primary care and walk-in environment. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care, assisting with clinical workflows, and ensuring efficient daily operations within the practice.

Providers include MDs (Emergency Medicine & Primary Care), DOs, and Nurse Practitioners, collectively serving approximately 100 patients per day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Room and prepare patients for provider visits
  • Obtain vital signs and document clinical information in EMR
  • Perform patient triage and assist with patient flow
  • Conduct clinical tasks including:
    • EKGs and ePatch placement
    • Injections and specimen collection
    • Point-of-care testing
  • Assist with medication refills and prescription coordination
  • Manage patient calls, voicemails, and documentation of cases
  • Place lab and diagnostic orders per provider direction
  • Prepare lab requisitions and support lab workflow (~30 patients/day)
  • Assist with patient education and follow-up instructions
  • Maintain exam room cleanliness, stocking, and supply ordering
  • Support overall clinic operations and patient experience
  • Prepping charts and reviewing patient histories in Athena
  • Pulling hospital follow-up records
  • Supporting nurse visits and clinical follow-ups

  • Collaborative team of providers, 3 MAs, and 3 LPNs
  • Fast-paced environment with each provider seeing ~18 patients/day

  • “All hands on deck” approach—staff assist wherever needed

Qualifications

  • Required:
    • LPN license
    • 3+ years of clinical experience in a medical office
    • Strong multitasking ability in a high-volume environment
  • Preferred:
    • Primary care experience
    • Experience with injections and patient-centered clinical care
  • Certifications (LPN only):
    • Active LPN license in VA or NC
    • BLS certification upon hire

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elizabeth City, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $27.00/hr.
