Job Title: Mechanical Engineer I

Reports To: Lead Mechanical Engineer
Location: Houston, Texas
Summary:
A Mechanical Engineer I is an integral part of project teams, gaining foundational experience in mechanical engineering aspects of midstream/facilities oil & gas infrastructure. This role assists in the design, analysis, and documentation of mechanical equipment and systems, working under the guidance of more experienced engineers. An excellent entry-level opportunity for a passionate mechanical engineer eager to learn and contribute to significant projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assistance in the preparation of mechanical equipment specifications, data sheets, and basic calculations.
- Support for the review of vendor drawings and technical submittals for compliance with project requirements.
- Aid in the development of P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams) and PFDs (Process Flow Diagrams) from a mechanical perspective.
- Participation in technical discussions and reviews.
- Preparation and organization of project documentation, including reports and technical memos.
- Learning and application of relevant industry codes, standards, and company procedures (e.g., ASME, API).
- Collaboration with other engineering disciplines (e.g., process, piping, civil/structural) to ensure design integration.
- Some travel may be required.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Basic understanding of mechanical equipment fundamentals (e.g., pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, vessels).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
- Strong analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Team player – able to communicate and relate well with others.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Occasional lifting of office supplies or equipment up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to move around the office for daily tasks and meetings.
