Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a Pediatric Med/Surg position requiring at least 2 years of pediatric experience, prior travel experience, and night shift availability.
Details
- Acute care pediatric med/surg unit with 8 beds
- General medical/surgical pediatric patient population
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, adjustable to 1:5 depending on acuity; nurse aides available at a 1:8 ratio
- RNs are required to read their own telemetry strips; central monitoring station available with Philips monitors
- RNs are required to titrate drips including fluids and medications
- RT equipment in use, including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP
- Advanced Practice Providers available during evening hours; ED providers available for after-hours support
- Charting is performed in Epic (experience required)
- 12-hour night shifts (7P–7A), with flexibility to pick up day shifts as needed for unit coverage
- Self-scheduling is available, though schedule adjustments may be made to meet unit coverage needs
- Rotating weekends required — at least two weekends per month
- Holiday coverage required throughout the contract
- No on-call or standby requirement
- Floating required to Nursery/NICU
Requirements
- Active WV or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of pediatric nursing experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Ability to read telemetry strips independently
- Driver's license address must be located more than 50 miles from the facility
Additional Information
- Navy scrubs required
- Unit-specific orientation provided
- Charge nurse takes a patient assignment on this unit
- Candidates who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before applying
- Candidates who have worked within the WVU system for a cumulative year must take a 2-year break before returning
- Two professional references are required for consideration: one supervisor reference and one peer or additional supervisor reference; if the candidate worked a permanent position within the last 12 months, one supervisor reference must be from that facility
- A copy of current certifications and driver's license are required for consideration
- A skills checklist completed within the past year is required for consideration
