Location: Eastern North Carolina (on-site, within driving distance of the Tar Heel area)
Travel: ~50% (primarily regional)

We’re seeking a Director of EHS Regulatory – Water & Wastewater Systems to lead enterprise-wide wastewater and water compliance programs for a major U.S. manufacturer. This highly visible role oversees regulatory excellence, system optimization, and operator development across multiple facilities nationwide.
You’ll be the subject matter expert guiding wastewater treatment operations, compliance programs, and data-driven improvements that enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure 100% regulatory compliance.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and standardize water and wastewater treatment operations across multiple facilities.
- Develop and implement corporate policies, SOPs, and compliance documentation exceeding federal, state, and local regulations.
- Partner with facility teams to optimize wastewater treatment systems, including pretreatment, anaerobic/aerobic, BNR, and disinfection processes.
- Train and mentor operators to enhance system reliability, safety, and technical capability.
- Ensure inspection readiness and lead internal/external audits, coordinating responses to regulatory agencies.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with EHS leadership and operations to build a culture of safety and environmental excellence.
- Drive innovation in data collection, reporting, and decision-making to improve performance and sustainability outcomes.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (engineering, environmental science, or related field); equivalent experience considered.
- 10+ years of wastewater treatment experience (14+ years if no degree).
- 5+ years of leadership or team management experience.
- Strong background in industrial wastewater treatment — experience in protein, food, pulp & paper, or chemical manufacturing a plus.
- Proven knowledge of EPA, OSHA, and local environmental regulations.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office and data management tools.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities; bilingual skills a plus.
- Must live (or be willing to relocate) within driving distance of Tar Heel, NC.

Schedule & Environment
