Salary Range: $53,000 - $85,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are partnering with organizations in Delta Township that are seeking Tool Makers. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and repair precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Operate manual and CNC machine tools to fabricate and modify components.
  • Read and interpret complex blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Perform precision machining operations, including milling, turning, grinding, and EDM.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues with existing tooling to ensure optimal performance.
  • Inspect finished tools for dimensional accuracy and quality using precision measuring instruments.
  • Select appropriate materials and apply heat treatment processes for tool longevity and performance.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proficiency in operating a wide range of manual and CNC machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders, EDMs).
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Expertise in precision measurement techniques using various instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges, optical comparators).
  • Proven experience in the fabrication, repair, and maintenance of complex tooling, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of various tool steels, heat treatment processes, and material properties.
  • Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program or a relevant technical degree/certification in machining or tool & die making.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam).
  • Experience with advanced welding techniques (e.g., TIG, laser welding) for tool repair.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience integrating tooling with automated systems or robotics.
