The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is a paraprofessional credentialed by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) who provides direct Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services to children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other developmental, behavioral, or related disabilities. The RBT works under the ongoing supervision and direction of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA).
The RBT is responsible for implementing individualized treatment plans with fidelity, collecting accurate behavioral and skill acquisition data, and promoting meaningful improvements in communication, social skills, adaptive functioning, independence, and behavior reduction. Services are delivered across clinic, home, school, and community settings, as applicable, while adhering to BACB Ethics Code, organizational policies, funding source requirements, and all applicable federal and state regulations, including HIPAA.
The RBT collaborates with supervisors, caregivers, educators, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure consistent, high-quality, evidence-based care that supports each learner's progress toward individualized treatment goals.
