Job Title: Industrial Sewing Technician

Job Description

You will primarily sit at a workstation and operate industrial sewing equipment to produce heat-resistant products including mesh bags, filters, and materials for flex troughs, blankets, and pads. The position combines hands-on production work with attention to detail, quality, and safety in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate industrial sewing machines while seated at a workstation to produce heat-resistant products such as mesh bags, filters, and materials for flex troughs, blankets, and pads.
  • Read and interpret drawings, work instructions, and standard operating procedures to ensure products meet specifications.
  • Sew and assemble parts accurately, performing in-process and final quality inspections to maintain high product standards.
  • Set up sewing machines by placing spools of thread on spindles and threading them through machine guides and needle eyes.
  • Use a pedal or knee lever to start, stop, and control sewing machine speed safely and efficiently.
  • Cut fabric and other materials as needed to prepare components for sewing and assembly.
  • Move, organize, and stack materials and finished products around the shop to support production flow.
  • Work on a production line and support general production tasks, including basic packaging and inspection activities.
  • Collaborate with team members and, as needed, assist in other areas such as material handling and CNC machining.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and follow all safety procedures, including the use of required personal protective equipment.

Essential Skills

  • Prior experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting using sewing machines or performing cutting work is preferred.
  • Proficiency with sewing machines, including threading, operating, and controlling speed with a pedal or knee lever.
  • Ability to read and follow drawings, work instructions, and standard operating procedures with strict attention to detail.
  • Strong fine motor skills and manual dexterity, including the ability to grasp small components and perform precise sewing tasks.
  • Capability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods while performing repetitive production and sewing activities.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds frequently as part of daily material handling and production work.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as effectively within a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn new tasks and processes and to assist in multiple areas of the shop as needed.
  • Reliable work habits, strong focus on quality, and commitment to following safety guidelines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with industrial sewing, hand sewing, and general sewing tasks in a production environment.
  • Experience cutting fabric or similar materials for use in sewn or assembled products.
  • Comfort working on a production line and performing general production duties.
  • Creative or artistic hobbies such as arts and crafts, scrapbooking, or sewing, and an enjoyment of hands-on work.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to think outside the box when working with materials and solving production challenges.
  • Positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and openness to cross-training in areas such as material handling and CNC machining.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Spokane Valley, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.25 - $19.00/hr.
