Overview
CTG is seeking to fill a z/OS Engineer position for our client.
Location: On-site 3 days per week at one of the following client offices:
• Pennington, NJ
• Charlotte, NC
• Jacksonville, FL
• Plano, TX
• Chandler, AZ
• Richmond, VA
Duration: Ongoing contract
Duties:

Install, configure, and maintain IBM z/OS operating systems and associated components.

Manage and optimize mainframe performance, including workload management, tuning, and in-depth troubleshooting.

Implement and enforce security standards in alignment with enterprise and industry requirements.

Support major mainframe infrastructure projects, upgrades, migrations, and modernization efforts.

Provide SME-level technical guidance to application, infrastructure, and cross-functional engineering teams.

Monitor system health to ensure high availability, operational stability, and adherence to SLAs.

Create and maintain technical documentation, standards, architecture diagrams, and best practices.

Collaborate closely with engineering, security, and operations teams to deliver seamless systems support.
Skills:
-
Deep technical expertise with z/OS and core mainframe components (JES2/3, RACF, SMP/E, TSO/ISPF).

Strong performance tuning, capacity planning, and system analysis capabilities.

Advanced troubleshooting skills for complex mainframe issues.

Knowledge of DR strategies, backup technologies, and high-availability environments.

Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-team collaboration abilities.
Experience:
-
10+ years of hands-on experience with mainframe (MF) technologies.
-
Extensive background in z/OS engineering, system support, performance optimization, and enterprise-level operations.

Experience supporting large, complex mainframe infrastructures.
-
Preferably non-visa-dependent candidates.

Experience with modernization, automation, or DevOps tools is a plus.

Additional desirable exposure: DB2, CICS, MQ, storage subsystems, or hybrid/cloud-integrated architectures.
Education:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience (preferred).
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $55.00 to $70.00/hour. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. In addition to salary, a competitive benefit package is also offered.
