Job DescriptionPosition Summary
The MRI Technologist performs diagnostic Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) examinations in accordance with established imaging protocols. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to provide efficient, safe, and compassionate care to every patient. The technologist will ensure high-quality diagnostic images while delivering excellent customer service consistent with MedStar Shah MSO values.
Key Responsibilities

Perform MRI examinations following established protocols and physician orders.

Conduct patient interviews to identify contraindications, implants, and relevant medical history.

Administer contrast agents as appropriate, ensuring patient safety and renal function verification.

Review and confirm image quality before completion of exams.

Document procedures accurately in PACS, EMR, and related systems.

Maintain cleanliness of the MRI suite and manage supplies.

Assist in training new staff and students as needed.

Support quality assurance, troubleshooting, and reporting of equipment issues.

Provide prompt service for image requests (films, CDs, digital transfers).
Qualifications
Education & Training
-
Associate’s degree or completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology or MRI program (required).
Experience
-
At least 6 months of related experience or successful completion of a formal MRI training program.
Licensure/Certification
-
Current ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT certification (required or must obtain within 1 year of hire).

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required).

Strong technical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.

Excellent communication and patient care skills.

Familiarity with EMR and PACS systems preferred.
