Job DescriptionWe are looking for a highly skilled Payroll Manager to join our team in Columbia, Maryland. In this role, you will oversee payroll operations for a large multi-state workforce, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in payroll processing. This is a long-term contract position, ideal for professionals with extensive experience in payroll management and a commitment to excellence.
Responsibilities:
• Manage the end-to-end payroll process for a large, multi-state workforce, ensuring timely and accurate payroll distribution.
• Review and validate payroll data to maintain high standards of accuracy and address any discrepancies promptly.
• Supervise and guide a team of payroll professionals, fostering their growth and ensuring strong performance.
• Collaborate with Human Resources, Finance, and other departments to resolve payroll-related issues and implement effective solutions.
• Lead the administration of payroll systems, troubleshooting issues and coordinating with IT and external vendors when necessary.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including tax laws and wage requirements.
• Prepare and submit detailed payroll reports, reconcile accounts, and provide support during audits.
• Develop and enhance payroll procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy across all processes.
• Monitor payroll system functionality and implement upgrades or improvements as needed.• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience managing payroll operations for large organizations, preferably in the healthcare sector.
• Expertise in handling payroll for multi-state operations and a workforce of over 500 employees.
• Proficiency with payroll systems such as Workday, ADP Workforce Now, or similar platforms.
• Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, compliance requirements, and tax laws.
• Proven leadership skills with experience managing and developing payroll teams.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while balancing multiple priorities effectively.
