Job DescriptionA Behavior Technician (BT) is a paraprofessional who works under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to implement Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy programs for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities. Some common job responsibilities of an RBT include:

Job Duties:

1. Implementing ABA therapy programs: Following behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and individualized treatment plans designed by the BCBA to teach new skills and reduce problem behaviors.

2. Collecting data: Recording objective data on client progress and behavior during therapy sessions to track outcomes and inform treatment decisions.

3. Providing direct therapy: Interacting one-on-one with clients during therapy sessions, using behaviorally-based teaching techniques such as discrete trial training (DTT), naturalistic teaching strategies, and positive reinforcement.

4. Assisting with assessments: Collaborating with the BCBA to conduct assessments, such as functional behavior assessments (FBAs) or skills assessments, to inform treatment planning and goal setting.

5. Implementing behavior reduction procedures: Following protocols to address challenging behaviors, such as aggression, self-injury, or noncompliance, using evidence-based behavior reduction strategies.

6. Communicating with team members: Maintaining open communication with the BCBA, other team members, and families to ensure consistency in therapy implementation and progress monitoring.

7. Following ethical guidelines: Adhering to the ethical standards and guidelines outlined by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) to ensure the safety and well-being of clients and uphold professional conduct.

8. Following and adhering to the employee handbook of Collaboration Station Autism Center.

Overall, the primary role of an BT is to support the implementation of ABA therapy programs under the supervision of a BCBA, with the goal of improving the quality of life and promoting positive outcomes for individuals with ASD and developmental disabilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

o Education: Highschool diploma.

o Experience: Experience in the field of ABA preferred but not necessary.

o Background checks: All employees should complete state and federal background checks before working independently with patients.

  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds required.
  • Available consistently Monday-Friday between the hours of 845 am to 430 pm
  • Dependable and punctual.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Schedule:

  • 4 hour shift
  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • No weekends
