Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)
Location: White Plains, NY
Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday 9:00 am-5:30 pm *Subject to change based on practice needs*
Pay: $30-$32/hour, depending on experience
Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join their outpatient team. The PTA will work under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to provide high-quality rehabilitative care to patients in an outpatient setting.
This is a full-time, weekday position with no weekend requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide quality care to patients by assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results; determine physical therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians.
- Help patient accomplish treatment plan and accept therapeutic devices by administering manual exercises
- Instruct, encourage, and assist patients in performing physical activities such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, and daily-living activities, as well as using assistive and supportive devices, such as crutches and canes.
- Administer physical therapy treatments by giving massages, initiating traction, electrical muscle stimulation, moist hot packs, ice, and ultrasound; direct treatments given by aides and assistants.
- Evaluate the effects of physical therapy treatments by observing, noting, and evaluating patient's progress; recommend adjustments and modifications.
- Assure continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing home exercise programs.
- Document patient care services by charting patient notes in E.H.R. system and/or written charts.
- Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols
Knowledge and Experience
- Experience working in an outpatient musculo-skeletal practice preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients
- Graduated from a New York State Registered Physical Therapist Assistant Program or APTA Accredited Physical Therapist Assistant Program. Must be a licensed Physical Therapist or certified as a Physical Therapist Assistant in New York State .
Skills and Abilities
- Able to multi-task
- Strong customer service skills
Physical Requirements:
- Duties require extensive standing and walking.
- Requires lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring patients.
- Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
