Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for evaluating patients and supporting physicians in delivering high-quality patient care. The RN plans, implements, and documents nursing care according to patient needs while prioritizing care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.


Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Assess and evaluate patients to determine healthcare needs and clinical priorities.
  • Develop, implement, and update individualized patient care plans based on ongoing assessments and physician diagnoses.
  • Provide and manage nursing care for critically ill patients in the MICU/CCU setting.
  • Perform therapeutic nursing interventions and monitor patient responses to treatments.
  • Assist physicians with procedures and patient management.
  • Manage advanced critical care equipment including mechanical ventilators, arterial lines, and central lines.
  • Administer medications, vasopressors, sedation, paralytics, and blood transfusions as required.
  • Monitor and manage high-acuity patients, including those requiring cardiac telemetry and complex critical care.
  • Perform clinical procedures such as phlebotomy, arterial blood gas (ABG) collection, catheterization, and chest tube management.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with clinical standards and patient acuity.
  • Advocate for and implement evidence-based nursing practices to improve patient outcomes.
  • Provide patient-centered care aligned with professional nursing practice standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Float to similar ICU units when required based on staffing needs.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of strong Medical ICU or ICU experience required; 3 years required and 5 years preferred managing high-acuity critical care patients.
  • Active New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) license or Multi-State Compact RN license required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (AHA) required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
  • Telemetry certification required.
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required.
  • CEU Contact Stroke – 4 hours required.
  • CCRN certification highly recommended/preferred.
  • Strong experience with mechanical ventilation and ventilator management.
  • Proficiency with central line and arterial line management.
  • Experience with cardiac telemetry monitoring.
  • Competency in administering blood transfusions.
  • Ability to manage complex therapies including vasopressors, sedation, and paralytics.
  • Skills in phlebotomy and arterial blood gas (ABG) specimen collection.
  • Experience with chest tube management, bladder management, and strong peripheral IV access.
  • Preferred experience with CRRT (NextStage), intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), and Impella devices.
  • English proficiency required (reading, writing, and speaking).


Important Details:

  • 13-week contract position (possibly to get extended)
  • 3x12 hrs. Night shift, 36 hrs/week
  • Location is Neptune, NJ
  • Hourly Pay Range - $50 - $55
