The role of Addiction Psychiatry Physician involves delivering comprehensive psychiatric and substance use care to a varied and underserved patient demographic across different environments. Key responsibilities include performing clinical evaluations, formulating treatment strategies, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and guiding trainees. Candidates must hold board certification in Psychiatry with a focus on Addiction Psychiatry and will have the chance to engage in clinical, educational, and research activities within an academic medical institution.

The Role
The Addiction Psychiatrist will be essential in offering extensive substance use and psychiatric care to a diverse and underserved patient population. This position includes medication-assisted treatment and integrated care across various settings, such as outpatient treatment centers, mobile outreach services, and crisis response facilities. Responsibilities encompass:
- Conducting thorough assessments and creating personalized treatment plans.
- Collaborating with a recovery-focused team, including social workers, therapists, primary care providers, and certified recovery specialists.
- Teaching and mentoring psychiatry residents, medical students, and other trainees.
- Participating in initiatives aimed at addressing health disparities.

Weekend on-call duties will be shared on a rotating basis, approximately three weekends each year.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Care: Perform comprehensive evaluations, including history-taking, mental status assessments, and diagnostic evaluations for patients from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Collaborative Environment: Engage in a supportive, collegial atmosphere with nursing staff, social workers, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals to meet the holistic needs of patients.
- Education and Mentorship: Teach, supervise, and mentor psychiatry residents, medical students, and other trainees in clinical settings.
- Research Opportunities: Access research mentorship and participate in institutional committees and initiatives.
- Administrative Duties: Assist in the development and implementation of clinical protocols and policies while ensuring accurate and timely documentation of patient care and academic activities.
Candidate Qualifications
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
- Completion of a residency in Psychiatry from an ACGME-accredited program.
- Completion of a fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry or Addiction Medicine, or possess ABPN subspecialty certification in Addiction Psychiatry with relevant experience prior to the start date.
- Board eligibility or certification in Psychiatry.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary team setting.
- Capability to obtain an unrestricted medical license and DEA from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania before employment.
