A healthcare organization in Wapakoneta, OH is seeking a skilled Radiological Technologist for an 8-hour evening shift position with every third weekend required. This contract opportunity offers the chance to contribute to diagnostic imaging in a hospital setting, focusing on inpatient acute care. The role requires proficiency and safety in operating radiology equipment and performing various imaging procedures, including experience with fluoroscopic and surgical radiography.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain patient clinical histories and document appropriately for licensed practitioners.
- Position and immobilize patients to capture clear diagnostic images while ensuring patient comfort.
- Operate imaging equipment, including GE mobile units, GE rooms, and C-arm devices, applying radiation safety principles.
- Assist with fluoroscopic and specialized radiography procedures, including surgical aseptic techniques.
- Verify informed consent and complete required documentation.
- Evaluate image quality and document patient radiation doses.
- Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and healthcare team members.
- Maintain compliance with safety standards and support ALARA principles (As Low As Reasonably Achievable).
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification and Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required.
- Associates degree from an ARRT-accredited program preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Minimum of 1 year of hospital inpatient acute care experience in diagnostic radiology.
- Experience with Emergency Room (ER), inpatient and outpatient radiology procedures.
- Preferred experience with GE mobile and room units as well as C-arm equipment.
- Operating room (OR) and surgery radiography experience strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with Radiology Information Systems and PACS preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Position involves patient care in various settings including ER and OR, with exposure to infectious materials and occasional physical demands such as lifting and pushing.
- Ability to work evenings with rotating weekend schedule.
- Local candidates only, no on-call requirement.
