Key responsibilities include assessing patients, accessing central lines/ports, reviewing lab results, monitoring for adverse reactions, educating patients, and managing side effects, in an office setting

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Administration: Safely administer chemotherapy and related medications (biotherapy, immunotherapies, blood products) per provider orders and Oncology Nurse Society (ONS) guidelines.
• Patient Assessment & Monitoring: Evaluate patients before and during treatment (vitals, labs, physical condition) and respond to adverse reactions or anaphylaxis.
• Vascular Access: Perform venipuncture and access implanted ports (e.g., Port-a-Cath) and central line catheters.
• Education: Educate patients and caregivers about treatment plans, medication side effects, and self-care.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely documentation in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) regarding treatment, assessments, and patient response.
• Safety & Compliance: Adhere to OSHA and NIOSH guidelines for the safe handling and disposal of hazardous drugs (cytotoxic agents).
• Triage: Provide telephone triage for patients reporting symptoms or side effects.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Licensure: Active, unencumbered RN license.
• Education: Nursing Degree (BSN often preferred).
• Experience: Previous oncology or infusion experience is strongly preferred.
• Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) is required; ONCC Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Certificate is often required or preferred.
• Skills: Strong critical thinking, IV insertion skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

This position is a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday role with Mondays and Fridays off or used as catch up days.
